The Real Reason You Aren’t Losing Weight

The Real Reason You Aren’t Losing Weight

Before I get into that, though, I want you to imagine something. You just wrapped up a hard day’s work. It’s dinner time. You can feel the rumble of your stomach like a mini earthquake.

The problem is you’re not sure what you want to eat.

You open the fridge to see what you can cobble together. Some chicken, a bag of frozen microwaveable vegetables, and a whole bunch of other items.

Enough for a meal? Absolutely. What you feel like eating? Absolutely not.

Instead, you open up UberEats, find a local restaurant you enjoy and get yourself a delicious burger oozing with melty cheese with a side of crispy fries.

Of course you wash it down with a juicy haze bomb for good measure.

Then you get frustrated and blame your lack of progress on…

-A slow metabolism

-Not working out hard enough or often enough

-Not doing cardio

-A bevy of other excuses you tell yourself

The real reason you’re not losing weight?

More often than not, you eat solely for pleasure instead of nourishment.

Stop being one of those people. Stop downing calorie bomb after calorie bomb just because nothing in your fridge sounds good. Learn to eat for nourishment most of the time and you’ll never have to feel guilty eating for pleasure some of the time.

Does this harsh truth hit home? Save this blog post to return to the next time you feel like ordering out instead of cooking at home.

PS. By nourishment I mean nutritious foods.

PPS. This isn’t to say you should hate everything you eat (or that it’ll taste bad), but rather understanding that your choice of lean protein, veggies, and small side of starchy carbs won’t be as delicious as a bacon double cheeseburger with a side of fries and Hazy IPA.
