Detox for the Summer!

With summer around the corner, it’s common for people to become more focused and motivated towards resetting their health regimens and taking better action towards diet and fitness goals. Detoxing is a great way to cleanse your system and boost energy levels to prepare for the hot summer months ahead. 

Ridding the body of toxins is done through two major pathways.

The first pathway is to improve liver function. Your liver is responsible for most of the detoxification process. The second is through sweating. The skin is our major detoxification organ, and sweating is the best way to get the toxins out of your body. Follow these tips to get a start on your new health plan! 

Give your body a break from heavy and processed foods.

The body becomes overloaded with toxins such as unhealthy foods and harmful environments. It’s important to flush these toxins out of the body regularly to make sure that the body’s systems are running properly. Replace processed foods with foods that can detox your body and even boost your mood! 

  1. Blueberries for antioxidants 
  2. Greek yogurt for probiotic and gut health, as well as protein 
  3. Spinach for vitamin A and fiber 
  4. Red onion for skin health 
  5. Almonds for healthy fats and protein 

The second most effective method to detoxing is to SWEAT!

Consider attending a new workout classes that can influence your sweat levels, “hot yoga” is my personal favorite! After your workout at the gym, hit the steam room or sauna for 15 minutes to release even more toxins and bring your energy level back to normal. 

Detoxing has so many benefits for your health. It improves mental clarity, strengthens the immune system and improves digestive health, and most importantly helps to establish healthier habits. When you cleanse, you’re able to train yourself into making your health a priority in your life. You’ll start to notice changes each day you follow your detoxing program.
