Alright – I’ll just start this post off by fairly claiming that this DOES NOT apply to everyone, but for the few it does apply to – you may want to give this a try.

Have you ever thought about how close you live to work?  I mean like whether or not you could ever walk, jog or bike the distance?  I know – I know – it sounds crazy to a lot of people, but it’s so enjoyable once you get into the challenge of it that it doesn’t even feel like a workout.

Bike to work

Coming into- or leaving work on “human power” is a great stress-reliever that makes you appreciate life (I’ve experienced it and been told so by multiple people who do the same) a little more while putting things into perspective.  I mean typically you’d want an ideal 70 degree day with no wind, but sometimes you may need to endure cold morning temperatures.  As long as you’re dressed properly though – you typically have a warmer evening to look forward to.  And surprisingly – rain isn’t as bad as you might think (protect your hair though).

You’ll feel better, look better — and as a side benefit, you’d be saving money on gas.

I’m not saying “dump the pump” or any other public transportation slogans of the sort, I’m just advocating that this light winter we seem to be having in the Midwest may provide an ideal opportunity to explore new thins (that “new thing” being walking, jogging or biking into work).

Think about it, and if you’d like any good bike recommendations or ideas on the pace of your walk/jog challenge, feel free to contact us using the form in the upper-right portion of this web page.

Oh – and before you randomly take this up, please make sure that you have a place to shower and change at work.  I’d hate for you to go through the day SMELLING like you ran into work… :-)

Have a nice day!

The next post will be a little bit more Thanksgiving focused – so be sure to come back and check that one out on Wednesday.

Enjoy this time with your family, and if you need to know anything in detail about some of the tips that Yahoo! offered up in their article – don’t hesitate to contact us using the form in the upper-right corner of this page.

Happy Monday Everyone!

According to early projections from the U.S. Census Confectionery Industry Report – the average American ate 1.2 pounds of candy on Halloween a few days ago.  Now that the holiday is officially gone and we all had our share of snacks that we may be regretting at this point (I know I did), let’s shed that 1.2 pounds!

I thought it would behoove use to know a few little calorie burning secrets that wouldn’t take away much time or energy in our day.  I looked over the web and came across this list of “50 no-sweat ways to burn calories” from MSNBC.

Fidgeting

13. Fidget

You can burn up to 350 more calories a day than someone who remains stationary, according to a study at the Mayo Clinic. The impulse to fidget may be hardwired, but nonfidgeters can imitate it: Tap your feet, pace, or move restlessly in your seat.
