Hi everyone – looking over some of the site’s traffic this weekend, it looked like many people wound up here at the FDF Blog by looking for warm-up exercise tips. So to re-emphasize the value of warming-up & stretching before workouts, I thought I’d share a good warm-up routine from the folks at Moji with you.
There are 2 ways that you can check out this content. For people who are visual and love to take a good piece of reference material with them – try the printable PDF format by clicking the image below…

Warming up is an extremely important, but often overlooked, portion of each workout you perform. If you have ANY questions about things that are good to warm your body up for the exercises ahead, don’t hesitate to contact us using the form in the upper-right portion of this web page. No question is too small.
This week we’ll focus on transitions from working out in gym settings vs. home settings. For some people it’s a big hurdle to get over — the surroundings of it all. Is it strictly a mental thing? Yes. But your state of mind matters when you workout – especially if you’re going to be driven to do so on your own, or with a personal trainer (*wink*wink*), at home.
Well one of the biggest transitions I think people have to make when they begin to work out at home involves the sounds of the gym. I don’t know how many gyms you’ve visited – but one of the first things you’ll pick up on is that you either love or hate the music in them. It’s meant to help push people working out and can be quite effective.
Get in the zone with your preferred workout music!
In that same spirit – I’d like to invite you all to a personal favorite website of mine that features workout remixes of popular songs. The site is called Steady130 (<— Link), and offers up everything from multiple genres of music to tempos meant to help you maximize your exercise time to your heart’s content.
All of the music is legal and offered up as passion projects by the Djs who assemble the work.
Make a fun activity out of this and set aside an hour or so to just go through the site and find things that you like. Make a mix with a friend or family member. Music crosses cultures, genders, age gaps, etc. — it’s a no-brainer, that’s why gyms love playing it — it bonds the members of their establishment.
If you need any help putting together a good playlist for your workout, feel free to contact us using the form in the upper-right portion of this web page. We’ll gladly help your find some sounds that will help you meet your goals
Some days you have to treat your body like a business. By that I mean that when a business is trying to change something fundamental to their results, they try to get to the core issue – not just the symptoms. Another thing is that they set long term goals while keeping focused on the little numbers – because they understand that if you maintain or lift those little numbers, eventually the big ones will follow suit.
So how does that relate to the grocery store? Well, in the words of an article I came across on Web MD, “Good nutrition starts with smart choices in the grocery store.” When you’re trying to lose weight or recondition yourself – you could just focus on exercise – but then you’re only addressing symptoms of what may be a bigger issue… And that issue may not necessarily be how you’re eating – but what you’re eating.
So like a business, focus on the core issue.
The link above will take you to an article about what things you should be shopping for at the grocery store to promote better nutrition – it’s worth the look. And there are definitely places all over to shop for healthy items. Kansas City alone has 3 supermarkets that are considered among the healthiest in America (according to Health.com) in Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Super Target.
Focus on making your shopping trips healthier, and meal-by-meal (the little numbers) – you’ll notice you’re getting healthier in your selection. That should lead to some positive changes (the big numbers following suit) accompanying your workout results.
Check out the things I linked to in today’s post and feel free to ask us any questions if you want some personal guidance on the nutritional side of your training and fitness. Just use the contact form in the upper right portion of this page, and someone will follow up with you shortly thereafter.
