Happy Hump Day everyone!

I like the idea of staying active year-round, something about it just seems good for the soul.  Well in the spirit of staying active – I try to keep people abreast of local events where it seems like the whole family can have some fun and get healthier at the same time.  That said, registration is still open for the Hyde Park Pilgrim Run

Hyde Park Pilgrim Run

This is the first 5K Thanksgiving event held in that area, and “Proceeds from this event will benefit the Children’s Programs of the Pilgrim Center.”

Here’s a link to the information on the race and registration.  The course map can be seen below.

Have some healthy fun for a good cause before carving into your turkey this year :-)   If you want some tips on some great ways to prep before the Thanksgiving Day race – contact us using the form in the upper-right corner.

Everyone have an exciting day and I’ll see you here again on Friday morning.

Women chatting while jogging...

Bring a friend!

Fall is upon us and it’s the perfect time of year to pick up a pair of running shoes and get moving for great goals and causes.  The weather isn’t too hot or too cold, the breezes are gentle, and your family and friends would more than likely still be willing to hit the pavement with you.  Depending on the race you pick, activities would be provided for the smaller members of your family (the children) as well.

Local Races are great opportunities to show how your training during the Summer Months has paid-off.  Whether you’re wanting to gauge your level of improvement or simply experience the thrill of the event – jump on those urges to be active.

You’ll meet hundreds of community members who are all running for well-merited reasons, much like you’d be doing, and they’ll help create good memorable experiences along the way.  Front Door Fitness could readily help you prepare yourself to complete 10K’s to Marathons like the upcoming ones below.

The Plaza 10K Run

You’ll have to act on this one fast.  Although registration is still open, race day is Sunday – September 18th.  Click on the link above before it’s too late!

The inaugural Plaza 10K Run/Walk, presented by Farmers Insurance, is the only signature 10K race in Kansas City and features a flat and fast course along the boulevards and parkways in and around the Country Club Plaza!

This new event, which includes a 10K run/walk, a 2 mile fun run/walk and a kids dash, is destined to become one of the most popular races of the year in Kansas City.

The Cerner 15K Road Race

Click the link above to find out more.  This one is coming up sooner than you think.

On September 24, 2011, Ultramax and Cerner will bring the popular 15K (9.35-mile) road race distance to Kansas City. This is the first time Cerner and Ultramax have teamed up to bring a 15K race to Kansas City, tying well into the healthy lifestyle initiatives Cerner is kicking off locally this summer!

The 2011 Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon With Ivy Funds

There’s so much going on with this 26.2 mile event that I’d just recommend you click the link above and give it a look for yourself!  It’s happening on October 15th, leaving you plenty of time to get into great running condition with a Front Door Fitness Trainer.

Whichever race you end up picking, Front Door Fitness is more than willing to provide you the guidance to prepare.  More races will come along – and our offer to give you a free fitness & consulting plan will still be here for you to take advantage of when you need support.  Just fill-out the contact form at the top right portion of the page for more information.

Enjoy your day and happy jogging to those of you who answer the call.
