Welcome to 2012 everyone!

I just wanted to take a moment to wish you the best of luck with your 2012 New Year’s Resolution if you specifically decided to get into better shape this year. I have faith that you all can do it if you commit to yourself and NOT the resolution.

The key to pulling off your goal is going to be focusing on the fact that you don’t have to be a “NEW you” to get things done, the same old you that you’ve known for years will work just fine. What you should be focusing on is being a “BETTER you” as you take on whatever challenge(s) you’ve made for yourself.

Any transformation you’re seeking won’t be an overnight process. Focus on making the habits necessary for your success habitual, and you’ll enjoy the satisfaction that comes along with simply being able to say “I did that”

And don’t think that weights are the only way to a more fit version of yourself. Try activities like Yoga, Rock Climbing, Biking, Fitness Groups, etc.

We’ll be there with you each step of the way.

If you need…

Any workout tips for success

Answers to any questions you may have, or

A workout partner

…don’t hesitate to contact us using the contact form in the upper-right portion of this web page.

We look forward to motivating you all through 2012, and are even more excited to see you accomplish what you set out to do!

Good morning and Happy Day After Christmas everyone! We’re so close into the New Year that I can almost taste it, can’t you? Don’t get me wrong – I love the holidays – but there’s something about an approaching New Year that makes me feel rejuvenated. Almost as if all of the things I fell short on in the past suddenly get restarted anew to give me another go at it.

All of that said, I’d suppose the theme for this week (in preparation for the coming of 2012) is a shift in attitude – or – “Strengthening Your Most Important Training Strength/Weakness”. Sometimes the one thing that stops us from working out isn’t our body or the amount of time we have – it’s simply our attitudes towards exercising. As personal trainers – it’s Front Door Fitness’ duty to help you have a positive outlook on your workout routines and its benefits.

I’d like to share this article with you that I saw on CNN this morning. It’s commentary from the Obama’s personal trainer. This isn’t political in nature at all – so please don’t be offended – I just felt like his words were very poignant considering this week’s theme. CLICK THE PICTURE below to read the short article entitled: “Obama’s trainer: Busy people can exercise, too”…

CLICK THE PICTURE to be taken to the article about the Presidential Personal Trainer...

The story highlights as listed on CNN are:

Cornell McClellan has trained the Obamas for over 10 years

The biggest barrier to exercise is mental, he said

Obama works on high-intensity exercise, weights, cardio, plyometrics

But an even bigger takeaway that I want to sink in for people is that this article is about the trainer of the President and First Lady of the United States of America! If they have time to workout and look after their health – why don’t you? Haha – again, no offense – but I doubt that any of us keep a busier schedule than either one of those two.

Just something to think about as we approach the New Year.

If you want to talk about this subject at further length – or if this post motivated you to act on getting a personal trainer yourself – contact us using the form in the upper-right portion of this web page.

Hope you all are enjoying the day after Christmas — have a nice day!

Working out with a partner isn’t just a gimmick that personal trainers invented so that they could get paid, there have been anecdotal benefits since before health and fitness went mainstream. While some of thees benefits are rooted in military, athletic and public service jobs (e.g. police officers and fire fighters) – they still hold just as true during workouts…

Partners can keep you accountable. One reason a lot of people start and stop their workouts so often is because they easily fall back into their old habit of “not working out” when they don’t have someone there to keep them accountable.

Partners can help keep you safer than you otherwise would be. A major benefit to having a partner with you as you exercise is that they can help you take a productive pace vs. an excessively strenuous one.

Partners can help you push your limits. Everyone has a little bit of a competitive side to them. As your partner improves – you’ll find that you want to as well because you won’t want to fall behind.

Partners may see things you don’t. It’s hard to catch errors in your form (or performing exercises) when you workout alone. A partner could eyeball slight areas you can improve your form to help you achieve maximum effect.

Partners can keep things fun. Can you imagine how serious a workout alone is vs. a workout with good company? Time flies when you’re having fun, and workout routines are no exception to that rule.

There are other reasons partners can be beneficial to your fitness efforts – but I just wanted to keep it at a high level for today’s post.

If you have a workout partner – great! If you’re in need of one, don’t hesitate to contact the experts at Front Door Fitness if you’re in the Kansas City Area. Just use the form in the upper-right portion of this web page and someone will follow up with you shortly thereafter.

Have a nice day and great workouts!

There are a number of men and women who participated of varying ages and initial weigh-ins. Listen to the pride they mention, their challenges and the fact that they did it all (for the most part) with guided support from a trained professional.
I really just want people to see that there are others in Kansas City who seek healthier lifestyles and the joy that just comes with completing a goal. Yes – committing to weeks of self-improvement can be difficult, but it’s worthwhile and is only the beginning of a wonderful journey.

Front Door Fitness helps people do the same. Make sure you look into our sites Testimonials Section to get your own glimpse of some of our clients. I really just want for the elements of hard work, pride and trained support to sink into the minds of everyone reading this post.
