Some days you have to treat your body like a business. By that I mean that when a business is trying to change something fundamental to their results, they try to get to the core issue – not just the symptoms. Another thing is that they set long term goals while keeping focused on the little numbers – because they understand that if you maintain or lift those little numbers, eventually the big ones will follow suit.
So how does that relate to the grocery store? Well, in the words of an article I came across on Web MD, “Good nutrition starts with smart choices in the grocery store.” When you’re trying to lose weight or recondition yourself – you could just focus on exercise – but then you’re only addressing symptoms of what may be a bigger issue… And that issue may not necessarily be how you’re eating – but what you’re eating.
So like a business, focus on the core issue.

The link above will take you to an article about what things you should be shopping for at the grocery store to promote better nutrition – it’s worth the look. And there are definitely places all over to shop for healthy items. Kansas City alone has 3 supermarkets that are considered among the healthiest in America (according to Health.com) in Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Super Target.
Focus on making your shopping trips healthier, and meal-by-meal (the little numbers) – you’ll notice you’re getting healthier in your selection. That should lead to some positive changes (the big numbers following suit) accompanying your workout results.
Check out the things I linked to in today’s post and feel free to ask us any questions if you want some personal guidance on the nutritional side of your training and fitness. Just use the contact form in the upper right portion of this page, and someone will follow up with you shortly thereafter.
Enjoy your Monday!
